So this week at church we witnessed a baptism, I wonder what we will see next week. I thought I would tell you all a little bit about what I eat down here in Honduras. I eat basically whatever is given to me, which means from time to time I do eat vegetables (I am just as surprised as you). What most of my meals consist of is tortillas and beans (the beans are ground up into a paste) and usually one other type of food. As previously stated for breakfast I usually have corn flakes, milk, and a banana. At lunch I will most likely have some sort of beans and tortillas along with something else. Dinner is pretty much the same as well. The Honduran PB and J seems to be a tortilla with the bean paste and what they call butter but it is more like a creamy paste, it is actually pretty good. I have been pleasantly surprised by the food and have been fed more than enough so maybe my survival weight will not be utilized after all. I have also been fed some more random meals (for Honduran standards) including spaghetti and a cheeseburger along with many meals in which I am not sure what I am even eating. So that is the story of the food down here so far. As for my group of other PCT’s there are 15 of us altogether, 3 other of which are from northern Illinois. Overall it is a group made up of people from all over the states with 4 boys and 11 girls. Everyone in the group has already become really great friends and they are all some amazing people. We have two what I would call fluent Spanish speakers in our group and the rest are pretty close to my level and a little bit higher. We spend a lot of time together when we travel and in our classes and it will most likely be a hard transition to our sites when we will be the only American in the town most likely. However for the time being it is great to have everyone around and have people that we can actually really communicate with. Well I am going to go try to wash my clothes now which should be an adventure and I might even have a story for you all when I am done. If you guys have any questions or ideas for me to write about feel free to email me or leave a comment and I will do my best to address them. On an unrelated note, I have found out that they have Phineas and Ferb down here in Spanish and my host brothers like it so I am really excited about that. Until next time!
