Another update

September 26^th, 2011

            Well just so everyone knows you now know a television star as I was interviewed on the local tv station, live may I add. The tv station is run by the school and is actually fairly high tech, I was very impressed by the whole thing. The principal of the schools runs a nightly news program in which he talks about all of the happenings of Dulce Nombre and tonight’s top story was a certain gringo has come to town. Without any prep of the questions I think I did pretty well responding and I think everyone more or less understood my answers or at least my family said that they could. I really wish that I could have gotten a copy of the interview so that I could post it on the blog here but I do not. It is really my own fault because I do not know how to ask for that, I think they probably could have given me a copy and been more than happy to do so. Anyways, everything here is going really well. Not sure if I have updated everyone on my living conditions here yet however it does seem to be a hot topic. So, I have my own room (which is rather large I might add, there is plenty of room for activities…), it has a private bathroom attached complete with shower that is more or less warm, and the rest of the house is really nice too. I am living with a younger couple and their two daughters with one on the way very soon. I do not really have a set schedule yet (which I would like to have, but I’ve got to meet with all my counterparts first and that does not seem to be in the cards at this point), but soon enough I should have one. So basically this week I am just going around and getting to know people, see everything that the town has, and most importantly talking with the people. I have been really surprised at how much Spanish I can actually understand and how well I am able to communicate. I am still not anywhere near the level that I would like to be at but I am rather pleased with where I am at. Well I think that is about it for this update, hopefully more to follow soon.
